Hey Wanderers!
So here we go at the start of the path! Where would you like to wander? Hopefully, as my family and I come up with some ideas and share our experiences, we can spark some ideas for you to have favorite moments and create memories with your family.
We plan to start locally with what we already know and love, branching out to those places you hear about, often hoping to make it to, and then expanding far and wide. We are excited about the possibilities! We plan to include variety and combinations of family experiences. We are planning the blog as a family business. The family seems as excited as I am!
When I would think about what I really wanted to do, I wanted to go places and do things with my family and then write about it all and share it with others. So, let me start with a very close location indeed.
I am sitting on my front porch. It is round with stone sides, rough hewn wood posts, and a nice roof. The porch sits up high from the road. On one side, the view makes me feel like I could be in a tree house. On the other side, I can see the sloping shaded yard and beyond that the woods.
Today, the air is warm, the breeze is pleasant, and the huge holly bush and a rhodadendron block the sun from my eyes especially as the evening begins and the bushes face west. Each wooden post has a plant hanger with no plants because when the girls were little, I could barely get them watered. Three posts have chalk writing or drawing on the inside surface because I thought chalk would easily get washed away. But, it didn’t. I sit at a big outdoor, rectangular, patio table with six chairs with another square patio table from my dad’s house sitting where the girls’ very small picnic table used to be. Five more outdoor chairs are stacked up against the house next to a small plastic desk and chair the girls refuse to let go of.
There is still room for a well worn lounge chair and two big empty planters again with no plants but having the job of holding down the blue outdoor, aged carpet. This porch is my favorite part of the house. We probably still don’t use it quite enough but if it could talk, it would tell of some beautiful family memories.
Maybe one place for you to start would be a simple, favorite place of your home or favorite outdoor space. Maybe you could go there with your family and start planning your next family memories and adventures.
In case you were wandering!
